Michael Mind Project releases statement on plagiarism accusation for SHINee’s “Ready or Not”

Earlier this week, we broke the news that Shawols had discovered a track by American artist Sean Kingston and Michael Mind Project titled, “Ready Or Not”. The track was eerily similar to SHINee’s track, “Ready Or Not”.

Because the credits to Sean Kingston’s songs stated that the song was written by Sean Kingston with the production by the German House Music Duo, Michael Mind Project, fans began to accuse the group of plagiarizing SHINee. Many fans asked other Shawols to stay calm and wait until SM Entertainment released a statement about the issue.

We also reported that the track was actually a remake of the song, “Girls”, so there was a possibility that the Michael Mind Project received permission from the original. The artist for the track, “Girls”, was unknown.

Now, Michael Mind has released a statement saying, “Dear bloggers. We followed your controversy discussion with great interest and decided to give you some more information about the background of the track: the original (called “girls”) has been written early 2010 in finland. We loved the track from scratch and offered to produce it. SHINee’s label did the same and has been able to cut it first. We agreed with the writers to do an adaption of the original with Sean Kingstons voice. Hence, we haven’t stole anything. Rave safely, the michael Mind Project”

Now that it’s been revealed that both tracks were produced from the original, “Girls”, which version do you like more? SHINee’s or Michael Mind + Sean Kingston’s?

American artist Sean Kingston plagiarizes SHINee’s song “Ready Or Not”?

Recently, Shawols have been showing their extreme distaste towards Jamaican-American singer Sean Kingston. It was discovered that the singer released a song with Michael Mind titled, “Ready Or Not”. The song is titled the exact same as SHINee’s track, “Ready Or Not”, which was released with their 2nd album, “LUCIFER”.

The credits to Sean Kingston’s songs state that the song is written by Sean Kingston with the production by the German House Music Duo, Michael Mind Project. However, the song by SHINee has lyrics written by Misfit, was composed and arranged by Mikko Tamminen, Risto Asikainen and Will Simms.

When listening to Sean Kingstons’ song, it is obvious that the background melody is extremely close to SHINee’s. Fans have been commenting on the track saying, “There seems to be a slight change in melody and beats.. but it is still SHINee’s song” and “The song has been sean-a-tized!”. However, angrier fans are calling for SM Entertainment to step in and make an announcement whether or not Sean Kingston was given permission to use this song, and if so, why no credits were given.

However, the track “Ready Or Not” by SHINee is also a remake of the song, “Girls”, so there is a possibility they received permission from the original. The artist for the track, “Girls”, is unknown, so that leaves this possibility as highly unlikely.

Check out Sean Kingston’s track below:

What do you think? Are the two tracks similar?

2NE1, 2PM, BEAST, SHINee, TVXQ and Big Bang’s facial expressions compared with cartoon characters

A hilarious compilation of idols vs. cartoon characters has surfaced on the internet and created a lot of buzz. 2NE1’s Minzy is being compared to a cute doll, while Wooyoung’s chubby cheeks are compared to that of a monkey. Going further down the list, the trademark smiles of Big Bang’s Daesung, BEAST’s Yoseob, SNSD’s Jessica, 2PM’s Junsu and Chansung are being compared with various cartoon characters’ expressions. SHINee’s Onew and Minho’s hairstyles look slightly similar to that of a particular Pokemon. Rounding out the list, TVXQ’s Changmin is compared to Spongebob Squarepants’s Squidward and Big Bang’s Taeyang resembles Mashi Maro. However, it’s up to fans’ judgment to decide who fits which character.

Netizens who saw this post left comments such as, “Woo Young really looks like a monkey,” “I burst out laughing when I saw the Jessica-Cappy comparison,” and “They all resemble the characters 100%!”
